How it is calculated
- New wage. The higher of today’s wage and €14.60. Anyone already earning more costs nothing extra.
- Hours per month. Hours per week × 13 ÷ 3, so 4.33 weeks per month, as payroll usually counts.
- Extra cost per person. Wage rise × monthly hours × (1 + on-costs). Minijobs use the flat-rate charges.
- Per day and per drink. Extra cost ÷ trading days, then ÷ contribution per drink, rounded up to whole drinks.
- Price scenarios. The price rise without 19 % VAT × drinks per month, compared with the extra cost.
Minijobs from 2027
The Minijob limit follows the minimum wage: €14.60 × 130 ÷ 3 = €632.67, rounded up to €633 a month (§ 8(1a) SGB IV). At €14.60 a little over 10 hours a week fit into a Minijob. Above that the job moves into the transition zone (Midijob) with different contributions.
What this figure is, and what it is not
- An estimate, not payroll. Night, Sunday and holiday supplements, leave and sick pay are not included.
- On-costs are your input. They depend on the health insurer and levies, and change for Minijobs in 2027.
- Tips do not count. They are voluntary payments by guests and cannot be credited towards the minimum wage.
- Pay gaps are your decision. If you raise wages above the minimum too, enter them as today’s wage and compare both cases.

Frequently asked questions
Does the minimum wage apply to Minijobs and temporary staff?
Yes. From 1 January 2027, €14.60 an hour applies to all employees aged 18 and over, including Minijobs and temporary staff. Exceptions exist, for example for compulsory internships and apprentices.
What happens if a Minijob goes over €633?
It is no longer a Minijob but employment in the transition zone, with different contributions. Check with your payroll provider before January whether to adjust the hours or change the contract.
Do I have to raise prices?
Not necessarily. The calculator shows how many extra drinks a day cover the cost and which price change covers it. Often a mix of both is enough.
Where does the contribution per drink come from?
It is a drink’s net revenue minus ingredients and packaging. You can work it out in the coffee cost calculator for your best-selling drink.
